Andrea and I were looking for a casual outing to stretch our legs and not have to deal with any or much snow. That meant looking for some low elevation peaks and to both our surprise neither one of us had been up Alouette Mountain. I had down Evans Peak many years ago, but the views would feel new again and so Alouette it was.
This summit has a very well established trail head and so from the parking lot in Golden Ears it was just a matter of following it up. The trees en route are quire spectacular and there’s glowing green forest flow that you don’t often see in other areas around the Lower Mainland.

Just past Evan’s Peak we hit continuous snow, but there was a boot pack in place for most of it. The last 100m of gain we found mushy snow and had to just accept post holing to the top. On the summit, we had nice views of Blanshard Needle and the Fraser Valley. From this vantage we could also easily see the distinct West Summit of Robie Reid.

After some lunch we headed down and that concluded a perfect short outing.
