Spiracle Peak – FA

Elevation Gain: 7,389m
Distance: 80km
Total Time: 12 days
Date: June 30th to July 12th, 2025

Spiracle Peak was one of two unclimbed summits that Andrea and I had set our sights on for the 10th day of the trip. It’s just a short skip west of Peak 7400 and our plan was to just go up and over it on our way to the main goal of “Elasmo Peak” (both peaks so called by us to stay in theme with Sharks Teeth Peaks). This was the tallest summit within an isolated island of peaks north west of Sharks Teeth Peaks. We had planned to spend more time exploring this group, but bad weather eventually dwindled our time down to an afternoon visit.

With our bags stashed up on Peak 7400, we had made our way to the Spiracle-7400 col and started the march across the eastern glaciated slopes. We stayed roped up until we hit dry ridge. From there it was an easy scramble up to the top. Two high points were visited to ensure the summit was secured and we also confirmed our height above Peak 7400 as well.

Looking towards Peak 6600 which we climbed earlier (yes climbed despite how it looks) and Sharks Teeth Peak in the back
Looking West towards where the Kapella reaches the Kitlope River. That is likely “Reclusion Peak” on bivouac.

Easy scrambling up the ridge

Elasmo Peak was a long ways off so we didn’t spare much time on the summit and booted down the soft snow slopes on the west side to the col.
